The Learning Through Play Calendars (LTPC) – Birth to 3 Years and 3 to 6 Years are a product of the SickKids Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health, Canada.
The LTP resources are pictorial “calendars” that depict the successive stages of child development, along with brief descriptions of simple play activities that show parents what they can do to promote healthy child development. They focus on five key domains of development; Sense of self, Physical, Relationships, Understanding the world, and Communication.
They emphasise the importance of positive parent – child relationships, as critical to a child’s sense of well-being. The LTPCs have a simple, low-literacy, pictorial format and adopt a hands-on approach that emphasises learning through demonstration and practice.
The LTPCs are available in India in English as well as six regional languages: Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu.
